The Graduate Outreach and Support Committee is inviting you to attend the following event:
Creating an Impactful Academic CV: Design Once, Adapt Continuously
An effective academic CV is more than a record of a person’s educational background, employment, publications, and professional accomplishments. It is a strategic, evidence-based document that communicates professional identity, expertise, skills, and a job candidate’s potential. This highly interactive, 75-minute online workshop will help graduate students design a strong foundational CV and learn how to continually adapt it for both academic and non-academic opportunities / for various academic and non-academic opportunities (depending on the emphasis).
Participants will 1) analyze real job advertisements, identifying discipline-specific keywords and action language, 2) learn how to distinguish a CV from a résumé and bio-sketch, and 3) practice aligning their CV, cover letter, and other application materials.  (I'd suggest numbering the sections to make it easier to follow). The workshop will also address (chronology - ? – how to create an effective chronology?), how to approach employment or education gaps, professional networking, responsible use of AI, and strategies for maintaining an ongoing record of career-based accomplishments. Participants will leave with a practical blueprint for creating, updating, and strategically positioning their CV throughout their careers, using sustainable processes to document and communicate their professional growth throughout their academic careers.
